A New Brother!

I am so happy to tell you that we have a new brother in Christ! On Thursday, June 19th at 10:45 PM, Gary Fuller was baptized into Christ for the forgiveness of his sins.

Gary began worshiping with us when he married Sierra Lopez last year. Sierra is a young Christian lady who graduated from Freed Hardeman. I have been doing some personal Bible studies with Gary for about two months. He had a lot of questions. He comes from an LDS background and has a very large family.

After we went through the questions that he had written out for me, he asked to be baptized. We were able to immerse Gary in the Provo River!

Please keep Gary and Sierra in your prayers that they may continue to grow in knowledge and in their relationship with Christ.

Grief and Suffering Seminar

The Carbon/Emery Church of Christ in Price, Utah, hosted a Grief and Suffering Seminar last month. The seminar was taught by Brother Mike McPherson from the Woodson Chapel Church of Christ in Nashville, TN.

Mike has experience with this particular topic because he lost his wife to ALS seven years ago. He has also experienced clinical depression. These experiences made him uniquely qualified to teach us what he has learned.

Amy, Isaiah, and I were able to attend the Saturday sessions. They were interesting and helped us to understand grief, as well as know what to say and not say to someone who is hurting. We had to miss the Sunday lectures but it was great to get to hear Mike and to see the brethren who attended the event on Saturday.

A New Study

This month I was contacted by Connor Brinkman, who had gotten my information from a QR code on my car. The sticker says “Bible Study?” and has a large QR code to scan.

Connor is with a group called Tent Makers who started a church plant about two years ago. He wanted to study the Bible more in depth.

We are doing an inductive Bible study through 1 Peter. It seems to be going well so far. Please pray for this study to be fruitful.

Coming Up

I am scheduled to have a prostatectomy on July 3rd. I will stay a night in the hospital and should be released the following day as long as everything goes well.

The doctor suggested that I stay in a hotel near there that night for a few reasons. I will be sore and the ride home will be uncomfortable, and staying the night will be helpful if I have any problems arise.

I fully expect everything to go well and, hopefully, this will be all that is needed to make me cancer free.
